Strawberries For Breakfast

We press them glittering into
Each other’s palms like a tiny,
Storm of small, speckled
Our fingers concealing each other’s
Blush as it breaks through the space
Between lifelines, coming up
For air. We feel
Their light snaking up
Our arms, their flickers
Trickling over
Our raw curves, our
Feet dangling in the ice-jewelled
Shallows of dawn, a cool sky
Bleeding, luscious over
Our bare ankles. Now, like a sleepy
Chameleon, we shimmer
Our shivers into the shelter
Of blaze. We are
One magnetic field, drawing itself
Out into the liquid sunlight, holding its breath.
